Hi Mom and Dad!
Greetings from Nice, France! I have been in Nice for the past few weeks, luckily. A few days ago some extremists shot and killed 12 people at Charlie Hebdo magazine. Right now I am very far away from the action but my apartment in Paris is only 2 kilometers away from the magazine offices.
Personally I think Charlie Hebdo shouldn't have published images of Muhammad because it's very offensive to the religion of Islam. I realize there is freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and freedom of expression in France but I believe this is going way beyond too far. Making fun of someone's religion or beliefs is never okay. But the cartoonists also didn't deserve to die. Even though what they did was really, really wrong, it also isn't right for someone to come and shoot them. I'm glad the police found the shooters although I don't think they should have been killed either.
